Sizing & Care Guide
How Big Is a Zenmoku Cup?
Each Zenmoku cup is one-of-a-kind — handcrafted and fired individually, which means no two are ever exactly the same.
We do not standardize our sizes, because part of the beauty lies in variation.
That said, here’s what to expect for most of our pieces:
Typical Diameter: around 9.5–10 cm (3.7–3.9 in)
Typical Height: around 5.5–6 cm (2.1–2.3 in)
Capacity: approximately 100–120 ml (3.4–4 oz)
For exact measurements, please check the product description on each individual cup’s page.
Zenmoku cups are sized for personal tea rituals — designed to be held in the hand, not left on the shelf.
How to Care for Your Zenmoku
Our cups are kiln-fired at over 1300°C, making them durable yet deserving of care:
✔️ Daily Use
Rinse with warm water before and after use.
Avoid scented soaps—residual fragrance may affect tea aroma.
Pat dry with a soft cloth after washing.
✘ Avoid
Do not put in the dishwasher or microwave.
Do not scrub with metal brushes or abrasives.
Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g., pouring boiling water into a frozen cup).
🧽 Deep Cleaning (Occasionally)
Soak in warm water with a spoonful of baking soda (10 mins) to remove tea stains.
For mineral build-up, use a soft brush and vinegar solution (1:3 vinegar to water).
Built to Last, Naturally
Zenmoku cups are fired using natural ash and traditional glazes. Small marks, uneven drips, or surface textures are not flaws—they are the fingerprints of fire. Over time, tea oil may deepen the surface sheen. This patina is part of your ritual.
